Autobiography August Wilson:


Birth Name: Frederick August Kittel

Date Of Birth: April 27,1945

Date of Death: October 2,2005

Education: He Attended Central Catholic High School. Then leaves the school because he was the only colored man,they threaten and abuse him so he leaves the school. Later on he goes to Gladstone High School were he drops out because his teacher accuses him of copying a paper that he wrote of Napoleon. Wilson doesn't go back to high school and he gets his education from the Libraries and the streets.


Conflicts From Childhood To Adult: Throughout his teenage years he was threaten and not treated like he was suppose to because of his color. He doesn't get to finish High School because he was discriminated. His Biological father dies and that's when he changes his name to August Wilson. He grew up in Hill district of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Because of all the racist comments and mean things people would tell him, he wrote his plays so dramatic Black Bart and Sacred Hills are perfect examples of his writing

Achievements/Awards: Some of the achievements he received were getting honored at the 100th anniversary of Hill District Branch Library.

Personal Life: August Wilson was Married three times First With Brenda Burton in the year 1969-1962 when his marriage ends. He had a daughter in the year 1970 Sakina Ansari Wilson. Then in the year 1981 he marries Judy Oliver a Social Worker his marriage ends around the year 1990 and he moves to Seattle. He married Judy Oliver in 1994. August Wilson Passed away in the year 2005 at age 60,because he was diagnosed with cancer.

Troy Maxson- Troy is the main Character of the book fences. He is married to Rose and had a daughter names Raynell with Alberta. He is 53 years old and theirs times in the novel where he is very stubborn and hardheaded. Troy Maxson was a very hard working man, he loved baseball and based his life on the baseball field.There is a current part in the book where he tells his wife rose I've been living my life on first base and for the first time i moved to second base. Bono is his best friend in the novel he listens to everything troy says. He has very harsh comments, that affected the people that loved him and that he loved.
Cory Maxson- Cory is Troy's & Rose's Son' attending high school in the beginning of the book. Troy was always hard on him about his playing Football
Rose Maxson- Rose Is Troy Maxson's Wife. She's been married to him for 18 years. Cory is the son she has with Troy. Rose is the one that wants to built a fence around her home to keep the ones she loves close to her.
Gabriel Maxson- Gabe is Troy's brother who is disabled because he fought in world war II and was shot in the head and now has to wear a metal plate inside his head.
Jim Bono- Jim and Troy are best friends in the play. They meet in jail and every friday night that would just drink and talk. Jim is a very loyal person who is always listening to everything Troy has to say, like for example when Troy played in the major leagues.
Lyons Maxson- Lyons is Troys other Son who loves music he wants to pursue his dream even though his father doesn't approve. Lyon is always coming to Troy's house on Payday to "borrow" money from him. He does not live with Troy,Rose, Or Cory. He lives with his girlfriend Bonnie who is basically supporting him financially.
Raynell Maxson- Raynell is a very innocent little girl whom troy had with Alberta. She is innocent of her fathers sins thats why Rose takes in Raynell as her daughter.
Alberta- is Troy's Lover, who passes away while giving birth to Raynell.
